Strong At The Broken Places

I found this beautiful sentiment on a rape center website and felt it was so appropriate, not only for rape survivors, but for anyone who has faced life struggles and come out stronger. No one needs to live as a victim....we all have it within us to heal. We just need to find the right "glue" to help us mend the broken pieces. My hope for you is that you will find that glue or, if you have been mended, perhaps you will be the glue for someone else!

STRONG AT THE BROKEN PLACES

I remember seeing this vase at someone's house
it was strong, and clean
it held flowers and some branches
and was very beautiful
They told me
"It was broken
a long time ago, but we glued it back together
and look at it now."
So finally I know that I, too, am strong
and clean, and very beautiful
that I can hold my life,
that the branches in my water
can take root and grow.
The hammer broke me, once, but
now I am stronger at the broken places.
